These Easy Vegan Cinnamon Twists take less than 40 minutes from start to finish, made with 9 simple plant based ingredients.
Begin making these delicious twists by adding the warm water, yeast, and sugar to a small dish. Set aside to allow the yeast to foam (5-10 minutes). Add the flour and salt to a large bowl and mix to combine. Once the yeast mixture is ready, add to the flour and mix until just combined. Knead a few times with your hands to ensure no dry spots and set aside covered for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, make the filling. Mix the softened vegan butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla together in a small dish.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. After the dough has rested for 10 minutes, lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough into a large rectangle. About the size of a sheet of paper (8.5 x 11 inches). Spread the filling evenly over the surface and fold the dough in half. Slice into 1 inch strips, twist twice, and lay on baking tray. (See video for visual reference below!) Bake at 375 for 20 minutes, serve and enjoy ~
If you’d like to make a glaze/frosting for them you have a few options. I’ve mixed 2 tbsp coconut cream with 1 tbsp powdered sugar and a dash of vanilla for these. If you’d like a cream cheese frosting mix a tbsp or two of vegan cream cheese with a tbsp of sugar, dash of vanilla, and non-dairy milk to thin.
